Celebrated French early keyboardist Benjamin Alard performs selections of J.S. Bach’s works written1717 – 1723 when he lived in Köthen and enjoyed greater freedom to compose as he felt inclined. On the program are the Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue in D minor BWV 903 and two English Suites (No. 3 in G minor and No. 6 in D minor). This period was a golden era for Bach during which he had the latitude to explore emerging musical styles and trends from other countries and integrate them into his own works. Benjamin Alard, with his unmatchable artistry and interpretive skills, brings out the ingenuity and freshness of this lovely music.
