It’s my great honor that Professor Emeritus Eva Legêne returns to Teddie Talks Traverso to take us on a deep dive into the world of ornamentation according to Telemann. By examining the harmonic and melodic contexts in excerpts from the Methodical Sonatas as well as other works of his, we’ll learn that Telemann shows us precisely how different ornaments should be played, resulting in an interpretation that’s stylish and expressive.

Day 1 on June 3rd will be focused on the building blocks of ornamentation, and we’ll begin with the appoggiatura, trills, and mordents. We’ll venture out on Day 2 on June 10th to look at “fancier” ornaments such as tierce de coulées, slides, and tiratas. Dedicated exercises, guided practice and listening will make up the entire lecture workshop.

ALL FLUTE PLAYERS, regardless modern or baroque, as well as any instrumentalists interested in baroque ornamentation, are warmly welcomed! BRING YOUR INSTRUMENT!
