On Blavet’s “Gigue en Rondeau”

September 14 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm CEST

Free

Hear Teddie talk about Michel Blavet’s intriguing flute solo!

Contrary to how it may look on the page, Michel Blavet’s “Gigue en Rondeau” in E minor for solo flute stands out in a very special way. Having performed it numerous times, many audience members would approach me to inquire about it afterwards, as they find the music unexpectedly modern-sounding and evocative.

To welcome the fall season, I’ll offer my analysis of this music along with some key technical points to consider on the flute when performing this beautiful work. You may want to bring your flute and try some of the suggestions on the spot! This talk is open to all flutists, regardless of historical or modern players.

In addition, I’ll take people behind the scenes and talk about the creation of my film “Trusting Light” with Blavet’s piece, featuring the mysterious night skies of Germany, Austria, and Italy. Sections of the film will be explained in my presentation. For better quality, consider viewing the entire film on my YouTube channel beforehand.

Tickets are free and are available starting on August 3rd, register at Teddie Talks Traverso on Eventbrite. The replay will be made available on my YouTube channel.
